If you know me yo know I am a techie. I love my tech stuff, but I like it because I did my research and I know that when I do buy something it will suit my needs and make me happy. I don’t go for the latest updates, I don’t need the “newest” gear, I would use a Blackberry 9000 if it had the apps I use, instead of an Iphone that gets updated every 6 months with the “latest” model.
So I watched “new” Ipad hysteria grow and finally watched the announcement, and I have to say I wasn’t impressed. Sure its new, it has a 5mp front facing camera, Retina Display and a few other items. Sure its the same price as the Ipad 2. Sure it had a faster processor. But does it matter? Do I really need it?
The answer is no. I am sure people will be waiting in line, I am sure Apple will do its best to keep the Ipad in the news. But after the 4s and my experience, I am pretty sure that its all crap. If you didn’t know, I was in the Apple store while probably 100 people were standing in line outside to get the 4s. When I went up to the counter to pay for my gift card, the guy opened the bottom drawer, and had hundreds (literally) of boxes of Iphone 4s’s of all types and colors. No need to have a line, no need to say we are only issuing 30 today, they had so many of the different versions. He told me it was so they could generate press, and people would talk. Sad that this is what companies do to generate news.
Anyway, so I have finally decided to not upgrade to a 4s, because I know the 5 is comming out soon, but I don’t want it either. I am making the switch to Windows phone, specifically the Nokia 900 Lumia. Why, you ask? Because, its $99 dollars. I refuse to pay $400 for another phone, I have better things to with my money, plus I must say I am kind of excited. The phone is beautiful, the UI is amazing, and it would be nice to have something different.
Yes, I have an Ipad, but it was given to me when somebody bought a Nook. Yes I have tablet, but its an older Sony ereader that I wouldn’t give up for anything. So I am a techie, but I am a cheap one, and a happy one.
Where the hell is my new phone???
